With regard to import duty rates we suggest as follows:

To determine the correct Tariff Classification for any product traders are welcome to confer with us for assistance and advice. The Tariff Classification Process is very important as it will determine what level of Import Duty / Tax is applicable for the Importation of products into Ireland / EU, or any overseas market. It will also determine if any special license is required or if there are any quota restrictions involved.

However, if there is any doubt in relation to Tariff Classification on products, traders are advised to contact Emerald Freight Express for advice or a second opinion as in many cases we’ll be happy to contact Customs / Revenue on your behalf to seek clarification / confirmation on the correct Tariff application.

Furthermore, it’s always highly recommended that if the Importer requires absolute certainty we can apply to Customs to request a Binding Tariff Instrument (BTI) which in effect, is a written confirmation from Customs to verify the correct Tariff Classification for any product. In many of these cases a sample of the product must be produced, so Customs can clearly see what materials the product is made from and its functionality. This helps Customs to determine the correct Tariff Classification and BTI.

As and when required we can also refer you to a associate firm of trade consultants who can give you further professional advice on any customs/ trade regulatory compliance issues, across the globe.

Emerald Freight Express offers a full consular documentation service for Export shipments, as and when required.

As members of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and the Joint Arab/Irish Chamber of Commerce we can prepare documentation for our clients including Certificates of Origin.

We can co-ordinate the issue of ATA Carnets with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce to facilitate the movement of trade samples around the world which circumvents the need to pay any duty or taxes.

We can also arrange presentation of documentation to any foreign embassy here in Dublin or in London, for certification as and when required. This can often be a pre-requisite to the negotiation to documentary Letters of Credit and as such we have extensive experience in this regard.

Dangerous goods, also referred to as hazardous materials or Haz Mat, require special packaging/labelling and documentation prior to storage or transportation, both within the domestic and international markets. The prime objective is always to ensure 100% compliance with the applicable Haz Mat regulations and safety standards.

Emerald Freight Express have qualified customer service agents who are certified to handle dangerous goods in accordance with IATA regulations. As such we can offer advice to shippers in relation to packaging/labelling/documentation as required for distribution and transportation.

If our clients do not have the requisite expertise to pack/label/document their hazardous shipments, we can offer further advice and recommend a third party agency who will step in to provide all the necessary technical assistance, so as to ensure 100% compliance with the applicable regulations and safety standards.

This ensures that our customer service agents are properly trained to conduct quality inspections and testing to meet defined quality standards on various products.

We can also undertake rework/kitting and reconfiguration of product to specification, including re-label/bar-coding product and shrink wrap/blister pack, as may be required.

Our service also includes inspection of Cargo on arrival at the Emerald facility and an outgoing audit pre departure from our Terminal. Our staff pay close attention to the quality of packaging and labelling to ensure that your goods are maintained in a pristine condition prior to delivery/dispatch.

If and when a more extensive quality inspection and testing service is required, we can engage an outside agency such as SPS to meet the specific technical standards as required
